Smart Insights

Enter your address for a free, instant read on your home's likely pipe materials, lead-solder era, and whether you're on public water and sewer or a private well and septic system — then browse our plumbing services or the FAQ below.

We use your address only to look up public property and Census records for these estimates — it isn't stored beyond a short cache, and it isn't shared or sold. See our privacy policy.

Plumbing questions from Central Maine homeowners

Is the Smart Insights result an actual quote?

No. It's a free, instant starting point built from public Census records for your neighborhood — never a record of your exact house. RJC Plumbing confirms pipe material, condition and code requirements on site before quoting any work.

My home has old galvanized or polybutylene pipe. Can you fix that?

Yes. We repair failed sections and, where a run is near the end of its life, repipe in copper or PEX. We will tell you plainly whether a single repair makes sense or whether repiping is the better long-term investment.

Do you work on homes with a private well and septic system?

Yes. Many homes outside Augusta and the village centers we serve are on a private well rather than public water. We diagnose and repair well pumps, pressure tanks and switches, and we service sump pumps for homes managing groundwater and spring melt.

What should I do if a pipe freezes over the winter?

Keep the faucet on that line open a crack if you can, and call us — a pipe that has frozen but not split can often be thawed and protected. If it has already burst, shut off the main water valve and call right away.

Is there a charge to get an estimate?

No. Estimates are free with no obligation, whether you call us directly or start with Smart Insights above. You get an upfront price before any work begins.

Which towns does RJC Plumbing serve?
